I am not much impressed with this movie when I initially saw this in the theatre but was waiting for the Blu-Ray release to watch it on my big screen, which is my usual thingy. Most of the movies which I didn't like when watched in theatres ended up looking good, as far as effects and entertaining factors go, when screened on my HT. Mission impossible is a pet project for Tom cruise and it is obvious that he does not want to go away from making it after years. This 4th sequel has some good action-packed + comedy sequences. I have had a a different perception about the director, Brad Bird, who is a renowned animation movie-maker, but never thought he would come up with an action movie as this. However, comedy sequences in the movie do talk about this directorial style, as he was already part of Ratatouille, Simpsons, incredibles. I am not going to do a review about this plot, etc., as everybody would have already watched this movie in theatres, so I am going to talk about the stuff inside Blu-ray..

The disc comes up loaded with thumping effects and on an anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 2:35:1, which is not uncommon in regional language movies that are now being released by companies, such as Ayngaran, AP International, etc. With the aspect ratio 2:35:1, one would feel that dense noticeable grains being apparent on particular framers and picture clarity slightly lower. My MITS-4900 delivers a rich visual treat to my eyes, especially the Kremlin( yes of course it is an set) blast and amazing Burj Khalifa in dubai( real) were mind boggling stunts sequences. The soundtrack is encoded in 7.1 TrueHD which is wonderful. Perhaps, I would have liked it better in a HD-DTS format, especially the blast at Kremlin. I am certainly disappointed with lack of thumping and thundering LFE here, maybe I have to check my system for the missing LFE or check the disc in a different system.

All in all, the Blu-ray disc is nothing short of fantastic and the transfer is good and the sound track has a nice punch and could easily be a show-off disc to impress your guests coming to watch the movies in your HT.. On the whole, I loved this disc and the movie as usual while watching in my LR-HT:)

I got the blu-ray "The Devils Double" thru Mr.Satish who is an aspiring director.

I enjoyed the film very much and the atrocities done by Saddam Hussein son in Iraq.  

This film is based on the "true account" of an Iraqi soldier who was forced to fill in as the double of Saddam Hussein's evil elder son Uday acted by Dominic Cooper,. The cruelties that Uday inflicted on the Iraqi populace are legendary, as are stories of his limitless debauchery, torture of prisoners including players of the country's national Olympic team, and rapes.Devil’s Double is gripping when it needs to be, enough that it’s held together by an intense dynamic between two main characters. 

Latif Yahia, who wrote a book by the same name, says he was threatened that his family would be killed if he didn't agree to Uday's demands. Cooper, in one of his biggest roles, essays the characters of both Uday and Latif.It's just that this film views Iraq and the Hussein family with such coloured lenses that only one hero can fit the frame. And that hero is Yahia, whose account has itself been questioned for its authenticity.The Devil's Double' spends more time inside Uday's personal life, including on a woman who not surprisingly guesses Yahia's secret and falls for him, taking unbelievable risks in the process.

The Devil’s Double is driven almost entirely by Dominic Cooper’s memorable turn as both Latif and Uday. Though there are differences between the two that help viewers tell them apart – they have different voices and teeth – it ends up not mattering, as Cooper communicates which person he is via body language alone. The two men can be in the same room, wearing the same clothes, standing perfectly still and yet you’ll have no trouble picking out which one is which. Though each character is different and complex, Cooper completely embodies each one he seamlessly interacts with himself. You’ll never consciously feels like you’re watching Dominic Cooper play two roles, which is everything you can ask for in a film made like this one.


For me it is worth an watch..

Hi,

I wanted to share it the first time I did this, but did not have a good camera or did not know how to put it. So, after a hectic schedule and overdose of music, here is the modding:

You need the following items before you start: Soldering gun with a sharp tip, flux, lead, wires (front USB cables are used), Panasonic DMP-BD 60, 80 55 and the mod chip.

The player used here is a Region A player and I have used a Region B title “Narnia – The Prince Caspian” for testing. What you see below in the picture is the player that is to be modded using the mod chip, which is also shown in the picture.

You need to solder the terminals A, B, C, E, F, Gnd, +3ve on the chip and on the Panasonic player as indicated in your mod chip diagram. This is a different chip from the one I used before, but the soldering points are all the same. You can solder Gnd, +3ve, E, F easily without any assistance, but you need to have someone to assist you to solder A, B, C, as it is on the legs of 5-legged IC that is as small as a chicklet.

Step 1: Open the cabinet of the player by removing screws on the side and back portions of the player


Step 2: Choose wires that are seen inside the panasonic player, I have used the front USB wires which are available in any nearby computer shop.

Step 3: Trim the edges of the wires and dip the edges of the wire in the soldering flux and dip it in lead on the tip of the soldering iron.



Step 4: Solder the A B C on the board and then E, F and then the gnd and +3ve


Step 5: Use a cello tape or insulation tape to secure the wires so as to prevent from detaching

Step 6: Solder the points A, B, C, E, F, gnd, +3ve on the soldering chip




Step 7: Secure the cables as to not touch the PCB or the mechanism as well as the circuit board.





Step 8: Plug in the cable and test the player using a Region B or C BD and once you confirm its working, go ahead and cover the cabinet.




Step 9: Now you have a Region-free modded Panasonic DMP BD-55, 60 or 80.




I hope this has been useful to everyone who wants to mod any blu-ray player. The process remains the same for most of the players.
